Mega Man Legends 3 canceled. Sad stuff.

Legend’s dead. :’(

This Makes Me Very Sad

Capcom has officially discontinued the Mega Man Legends 3 project:

And I was so looking forward to this game… I should’ve known this was going to happen. Ever since Keiji Inafune left Capcom, they have yet to make another Mega Man game. Sad, sad news to Mega Man fans all over the world.

Lots of hate in the comments of the press release too. Many Mega Man fans are treating this as the last straw.

**** you, capcom.
— ChomskyHonk

Well ****.

I’m sorry, I can’t support Capcom anymore if they give us red herrings like this. I’m declaring a Boycott until MML3 Project is resumed.

— Temia Eszteri

What the hell man?! **** off Capcom. Don’t get our hopes up this much and then just go and cancel it. At least release a version of the prototype on the shop to give us a taste of what we would have gotten.
— David

Well, time to wait another 10 years…
— NettoSaito

Apparently you’ve been drugged on Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry. Indeed expect hate mail, all that for nothing.

Way to show your appreciation to the fans, and guess what? All that trouble for a 3DS? NOT buying Super Street Fighter’s 3DS port nor the crossover game with Tekken. Capcom is now on the official dead list with Square Enix and Bungie. Good Job, fools.
— Gaia

As a major fan of Legends since I was a kid, I just want to thank all the people in the dev room who worked hard on this project, I feel you did your best. However allow me to say to those in Capcom who are responsible for this, that this complete disregard for the art of story telling will not soon be forgotten. I’d like to feel that at the heart of video game making should be a love and respect for the characters whose story you tell, and the fans who support it. I see though that this is not always the case. Well I can’t speak for anyone else but I’m done, and I’ll take my business else where. I’m just so thankful that there are fans who care more about characters and stories then those who decided this. Well if it was money that some in the higher places of Capcom wanted then they’re not going to get it from me. May art prevail!
— Roll-ZLX

There are no words in english, elvish, or even entish to describe so foul a treachery

….All I can say is this:

To those who made this decision, you’ve have just invited a plague upon yourselves, one that could very well destroy you.
— ravenf6

"…We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise…"

Support what, you done killed them all. You cancelled MegaMan Universe, you cancelled MegaMan Legends 3, you’re sure as the day exists aren’t going to bring us Rockman Online, it’s freaking over!

We were on the verge of celebrating 25 years and you freaking ended it. There’s not going to BE anymore franchise to support so don’t give us this line of crap.
— Reggie

They say, if you love something, set it free.
Capcom must really love Megaman because it keeps abandoning it.
— xnamkcor

This is outright disgusting, and you lot should be ashamed of yourselves. We didn’t even have a chance to show our interest by purchasing the Prototype.

It has become clear to me that, with the departure of Keiji Inafune, you are fully intent on killing off the Mega Man franchise, and thus no longer want any of my money. To hell with you, I’m done with Capcom.
— Joey

…words can’t express my sheer disappointment.
Its like I’ve had a door slammed in my face

The dev-room had my hopes up so very high…
Miserable decision Capcom. Absolutely miserable.
— Carl

What the hell, Capcom? You guys didn’t even given us a chance to prove ourselves with the prototype version.
This is unacceptable; I will never buy a Capcom product again.
— Zetta

Capcom, your lack of integrity appalls me. For all the effort put into the prototype, the least you could do is give it a fair shot on the market. You had very little to lose by doing that. You have lost my respect as well as the respect of many of your customers. I hope you lose a lot of money on this one.
— Dashe

Things are not looking good for Capcom if this keeps up…
